The Communications Coordinator will serve as a key member of our story-telling team, serving as a critical contact for patients and physicians to share their success stories in print and online. The Coordinator will also champion editorial strategies to create and maintain a positive image among patients, staff, providers, and the community at large. An essential role will be to create Methodist’s many newsletters that cater to both internal and external audiences, with a dual focus on print and digital communications.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, public relations, or marketing

• At least 2 years of copywriting experience on deadline, a strong grasp of the English language with excellent writing, spelling, and grammatical skills

• Experience with online publishing and marketing platforms, such as WordPress and Eloqua, is preferred

• Experience writing for SEO and for video a plus

Job Responsibilities:

• Writing for print and digital external communications, such as consumer-facing magazines, newsletters, patient videos and testimonials, and social media

• Writing and editing content for internal communications, including staff-wide and physician newsletters

• Other research and writing duties as needed, including a special emphasis on award nominations

• Shooting photos (point-and-shoot camera or smartphone) and producing videos for earned media or community publications

• Building and maintaining key relationships within the hospital and MHS to ensure a current, in-depth knowledge of services and key events

• Staying aware of strategic service line priorities of the hospital

• Must be willing to work weekend and evening hours for media stories or events

• Assisting with community events and other duties as assigned, in support of MHS
